  Why can a JW get a boob job but not a tatoo???

  that makes no sense to me.

  you'd get yourself in a jc for a tatoo but i've seen a couple of jws get a boob job and nothing happen... the hypocrisy in endless... .

  Hi Cognac,

  I agree with the above comments. I, too, know that in Southern Cally that tatoos and boob jobs, facelifts are very common. They can't do anything about it because so many are doing it. Back in the early 90's permanent tatooing such as eyelining and tatooing of the lips were the rage. They strongly advised that this was worldly but only the ones who wanted to hear that nonsence listened. The best was when a servants daughter graduated from highschool and her "gift" from mommy was a boob job. Mom had one many years earlier. Daddy bought her a BMW. Gotta love the witnesses from Southern CA. I haven't heard of any elder meetings occuring from getting a tatoo. Perhaps it depends on the area.

  Anyone familar with Everest College?

  it is one of those "career colleges" you see advertised on the t.v.

  Just curious if anyone has ever gone to this school and if they had a good experience. It is one of those "career colleges" you see advertised on the T.V. I have an appointment with one of the advisors next week. Googled the school and have read some horror stories---then I read wonderful reviews about them. This mom has to do something ASAP. Of course, growing up in this religion we were never encouraged to get an education. Let's face it--you have to have a degree or something equivalent to get started in a profession. I'm looking into the pharmacy technician program. All thoughts are welcome. Just don't want to get scammed.

  Wow, what a photo! Can you even imagine being there? Thought it was odd that the people attending were wearing suits or dress clothes. They can afford the proper attire but not a safe place to have their meetingss? If the meeting was in a dark muddy cave those people would still be wearing suits and dresses!!

  and you go off on them asking to talk to someone who made the decision to have some computer try to feign to talk to you instead of just letting you reset your box by pressing a number.

  then after pressing zero a million times find yourself talking to someone in guatemala about how this is making you crazy and did they know that the us govt toppled a duly elected government in their country because it was interfering with the chickita banana company?.

  i have had tough week with reasons that i will not get into.

  it made me wonder if i could remember anything positive about this religion when i was growing up.

  the only few "happy" memories i can come up with were going to the leimert theater.

  Farkel - My parents had that album!!! Grew up on that type of music. Rock music and "Disco" were from Satan. HAHAA. You went to Dodger Stadium too? The lines were incredible for the cafeteria. You had to stand to eat and I was such a little kid that my head never cleared the table. I can never look at carrot salad without thinking of Dodger Stadium!!!

  I quit - Leimert truly was a gem. It was in a bad part of town, my parents always kept asking us if our doors were locked. Funny.

  Dagney - I had forgotten that it was remamed the "Woodland Hills Assembly Hall". You are right--the parking was strange.

  Gregor - Wow, they actually had a memorial for a C.O. there? Kinda like Michael Jackson.

  I have had tough week with reasons that I will not get into. It made me wonder if I could remember anything positive about this religion when I was growing up. The only few "happy" memories I can come up with were going to the Leimert Theater. It was so beautiful. It's an old theater in Los Angeles that was built, I believe, by Howard Hughs. The ceiling was painted with murals and as a little girl I would just stare up there and get lost in my imagination. The snack bar would serve hot pastrami sandwhiches, which we never got. Our family had to stand in line and eat in the dining room that was added later. The food was pretty bad. The roast beef was always tough but you had better eat it or you would get in trouble. I think I still have some in my teeth. HAHA . The witnesses sold it and I think it is a cultural theater, could be wrong.

  We also went to the Valley Music Center. That place was neat. The stage moved and again to a young girl this was cool. All the ladies restrooms were wallpapered and had a different theme. There must have been five or six restrooms and I made sure I used all of them!!! They also served soft serve ice cream. Not the best memories, but hey. Feeling nostalgic today. I just aged myself, huh?

  Karen Silkwood died under strange circumtances also. She was more of a whistle blower but she did ask questions and did not like the answers and so she investigated on her own. Another recent one is Deborah Palfrey the Madam who was going to write a book and release information on the fat cats in Washington who used her "services". She was only going to do this after she was caught. Kinda like a retaliation. Don't blame her one bit. I feel she got a raw deal and her supposed suicide is a story I am not buying.

  Hey sammielee!---don't know if you will look at this thread again. Had my two cups of joe and looked at that list again. Some of those parks are ran by volunteers!!! I know this because I have been there. They are going about this the wrong way. This stupid reasoning is going to send the vacation crowd to the other parks where they will get turned away because the park is"full". Don't those fat cats in Sacrameto understand that with the economy the way it is that people are staying in their local area and camping or doing day trips? Wait a minute---when was the last time those people actually went to those state parks and camped? Yeah right. They all probably stay in the fancy resorts or lodges. Arnie can afford to vacation anywhere in the world and somehow I can't imagine his wife and kids tenting or staying in a R.V

  Must have more coffee. To those that can stay in the fancy resorts I don't mean to offend, they are wonderful. I just don't think this is a good idea.

  I just read this post this morning. This is awful, those parks on the list are little gems in cali. How can you close the West Coast? Is the coast guard going to be out there or homeland security checking to see if you have entered an area that is not under their radar. How can this be enforced? Sheesh, can you imagine getting busted for going into a state park that was closed. HAHA
